FIRST AID SUPPORT TEAM (Camposol)
F.A.S.T IS NOW BECOMING REALITY! Be a part of something BIG - From the beginning!
All we need is more volunteers to create a viable roster system to provide the support without placing excessive burdens on the current volunteers and then we can commence the training. To date all volunteers have been British, so we are now pursuing all nationalities to support the service. Please read on and then contact us on the details below if you think you can help. F.A.S.T are also looking to increase the committee member population so again, if you think this could be you, contact us below as soon as possible.
The problem faced on Camposol is that it may take those vital support services a long time to get to us maybe 40 minutes, made even more difficult by a lack of street lighting, street names and other problems faced by a relatively new community. Imagine being helpless for what seems to be an eternity whilst your loved one slips away in front of your eyes.
The Facts: To enhance the chances of survival, there needs to be a ‘FAST’ response to assist the casualty and help preserve life if possible until the professionals arrive. Literally every minute counts! For example, with cardiac arrest the FASTER CPR starts the better and whilst this can help preserve life the use of a defibrillator can enhance the narrow survival rates by around 10 times and although there is still no guarantee.
Good News? There is now a group of people who want to help residents of Camposol by providing a trained volunteer team to respond as ‘FAST’ possible
after 112 has been called in any such event to provide First Aid support and assist in giving the best chance of survival until the Ambulance arrives.
Steps are now in place to commence training and set up a duty roster once equipment is in place and volunteers are trained and ready to serve.
So are you the kind of person that would make a FAST Volunteer? If you are healthy, have your own vehicle or access to a vehicle that is legal and roadworthy, able to work as part of a team and willing to take First Aid training and maintain that training to the desired standard on a regular basis, then contact us at the numbers or email address below.
Once this pioneering service here in Murcia is up and running, the potential is endless, training & awareness for the general public including courses and involvement for the local children and young persons similar to St Johns that may give them a purpose in life. Similar services in the whole of Spain may also commence based upon our learning.
It is intended to provide this as free service with unpaid volunteers but of course there will need to be controlled funding to maintain the basic operational needs such as mobile phones for the operational volunteers (purely for use on emergencies) new and replacement equipment, bandages & dressings and basic printing costs in order to communicate regularly with the community.
If you are interested in being a volunteer or think that you or your organization can help with a donation to help set up or maintain such a worthwhile essential service, or if you would like to know more about FAST, then please telephone our Committee leader Kaz Moore on 626 823 081 or email your support to: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit us on http://www.fast.sm4.biz/ or our face book page ‘FAST Camposol’
